Where are you located?

Hillyard House Hotel is located in Castlewellan, Co. Down. We are located just before the entrance to Castlewellan Forest Park, on the right-hand side. Our address is 1-5 Castle Avenue, Castlewellan, County Down, BT31 9DX.

 

Is the hotel or restaurant or bar dog friendly? 

Unfortunately, our properties are not pet friendly. The only exception would be service dogs.

 

Do you offer wheelchair access?

Hillyard House Hotel is fully wheelchair accessible. The entrance for any wheelchair users or those with limited mobility is through the middle door on the building, past the main hotel reception. This will allow you to access the lift for both our bedrooms and The Yard Restaurant.

 

Do you offer Family rooms and what is the bedding configuration?

We do indeed offer family rooms. Our family rooms comprise of one Superking bed and one single bed. A camp bed can be added to accommodate a second child; therefore, the maximum occupancy of this room is two adults and two children. Please see the Rooms section of our website for further details.

 

Are you open for breakfast lunch and dinner to non-residents / the general public?

The Yard Restaurant is open seven days a week to both our resident guests and to the public. 

 

What time is the lunch menu available each day?

Lunch is served daily Monday - Saturday in The Yard Restaurant from 12 midday until 4pm. Sunday lunch is available from 12 midday to 8pm every Sunday.

 

Does the restaurant offer a kid’s menu?

We do have a children’s menu available that is available on the DINE page of our website

 

Are high chairs available in the restaurant for toddlers?

We do indeed have children’s highchairs available on request. Please inform our staff at the time of booking that you will require a highchair and we’ll make sure its available for you.

 

Are there vegan options available in the restaurant? 

We have a vegetarian menu, you can take a look on the Dine page of our website.  Please make your server aware of any dietary requirements and they will be happy to advise you.

How do I make a hotel booking online?

Accommodation reservations can be made directly from our homepage. Select the ‘Book Direct Now’ button at the top right-hand side of the page and follow the on-screen directions to complete your booking.

 

What is the best way to make a restaurant booking?

The best way to make a reservation for The Yard Restaurant is to call us directly via the ‘Call us Now’ button onscreen. Alternatively, you can send an email to reception@hillyardhospitality.com

 

What activities are available to do in Castlewellan and Newcastle?

Newcastle and Castlewellan are both located in areas of outstanding natural beauty, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery. Please see Things to do section of our website for an outline of some of our favourite local activities.

 

Is Car parking available at the hotel?

Unfortunately, private parking is not available at Hillyard House Hotel. However, free on street parking is available outside the front of the hotel and a public car park, located beside Castlewellan library, just a short two-minute walk from the hotel’s main entrance. There are no parking charges or restrictions in Castlewellan.

 

How close is the hotel to Castlewellan Forest Park?

Hillyard House is on the right-hand side just before the entrance of Castlewellan Forest Park, less than a minutes’ walk will take you through the historic gates and a 5 minute walk down the beautiful avenue will bring you into the heart of the forest park.
